Timothy L. Takacs

As the architect of the Life Care Planning approach to elder law, Tim Takacs is recognized nationwide as a leader in the important and demanding area of elder law. His innovations have transformed the way this legal specialty is practiced in the United States.

 

Tim is attorney and partner at Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law, PLLC. In addition to conceptualizing Life Care Planning as a viable practice model and launching the nation’s first Life Care Planning law practice, Tim was the first attorney to generate seven-figure annual revenue from his multi-disciplinary approach. He has been a national leader in the development of the infrastructure to teach attorneys how to launch and market a Life Care Planning practice. Tim is a charter member of the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association (LCPLFA) and the author of the LCPLFA’s training curriculum for attorneys and elder care coordinators. Since 1999, more than 200 attorneys from across the country have visited Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law to observe a successful Life Care Planning law firm in operation.

 

Tim is certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) since 1991, and has served on the NAELA board of directors. He is charter member of the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association and the founder of the Tennessee Pooled Trust. Tim is the author of Elder Law Practice in Tennessee and A Guide to Elder Law Practice, both published by LEXIS Law Publishing. Tim’s legal accolades include an AV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, Mid-South Super Lawyers honors since 2006 and Best Lawyers of America honors since 2007. His firm, Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law, PLLC, has also been named a Best Law Firm by U.S. News magazine. Tim is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the Vanderbilt University School of Law. He has been in private practice in Hendersonville, Tennessee, since 1980.

Barbara Boone McGinnis

Certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, Barbara Boone McGinnis is an emerging national leader in the elder law field. She is attorney and partner at Johnson McGinnis Elder Care Law & Estate Planning (formerly Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law, PLLC) the nation’s first Life Care Planning Law Firm. Barbara’s legal expertise, coupled with her experience as a Registered Nurse, Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Wound Care Specialist, have been instrumental in the continuing evolution of the Life Care Planning practice model.

 

Barbara has been instrumental in the ongoing refinement of educational programs that teach attorneys how to launch and market a Life Care Planning practice; her innovations have expanded the reach and revenue potential for firms that practice this multi-disciplinary form of elder law. Barbara is former president of the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association (LCPLFA) and a co-author of the LCPLFA’s training curriculum for attorneys and elder care coordinators. Since 1999, more than 200 attorneys from across the country have visited Johnson McGinnis Elder Care Law to observe a successful Life Care Planning law firm in operation.

 

Before receiving her license to practice law in Tennessee, Barbara spent more than two decades working in clinical, regulatory compliance, management, and business development roles in a variety of long-term care settings. Her skills include executive management, sales, consulting, and business development experience, and nearly a decade as Director of Nursing Services at a large continuing care retirement center in the Nashville area. Barbara has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) since 2011, and she has served as chairperson of the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association and the Elder Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Austin Peay State University, a Master’s degree as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Nashville School of Law.

Debra King

Debra King is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 20 years of experience as an elder care coordinator at Johnson McGinnis Elder Care Law & Estate Planning (formerly Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law, PLLC, the nation’s first Life Care Planning Law Firm. She is one of most senior, skilled, and accomplished elder care coordinators in the nation. As a charter member of the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association (LCPLFA), Debra has played a leading role in the development of educational programs for the social workers, geriatric care managers, and other professionals who have answered the call to work as an elder care coordinator in a Life Care Planning law firm.

 

Debra’s experience as an elder care coordinator and her background as hospital discharge planner give her a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the professionals who provide guidance to older adults on the long-term care journey. Debra earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Debra also holds a Certificate of Completion from the University of Florida and the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association for the successful completion of a 120-hour Elder Care Coordination course offered by the university.

 

As a charter member of LCPLFA, Debra has worked with many elder care coordinators across the country mentoring new elder care coordinators and refining the role and position as Life Care Planning grew across the country. Debra was instrumental in working first with The University of Florida’s Division of Continuing Education Elder Care Coordination Learning Certification program and later, Stockton University Stockton Center on Successful Aging to develop an educational and certificate program, which has been training elder care coordinators for the past decade.

Jerold Rothkoff

Jerold E. Rothkoff is the founder and managing attorney of Rothkoff Law Group. Jerry transitioned from traditional elder law to life care planning fifteen years ago, and has built the Rothkoff Law Group into one of the largest life care planning firms in the United States. Jerry Rothkoff has been, and continues to be, an outspoken advocate for the rights of the elderly and disabled.

 

Jerry regularly writes for elder care publications and presents frequently to attorneys and elder care professionals on elder law and life care planning topics. He is a frequent lecturer, speaker, and author for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Education, as well as non-profit and professional organizations. He has made numerous other radio and television appearances in which he discussed legal rights of the elderly.

 

Since transitioning to Life Care Planning Jerry has maintained ongoing growth in his practice. The Rothkoff Law Group maintains fully staffed offices in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, along with several satellite offices.

 

Jerry is uniquely experienced to assist other attorneys looking to effect a similar transition. Jerry trains and educates LCC clients on best practices to effectively market life care planning, retain clients, manage office process, and oversee an interdisciplinary team.

 

Outside of his elder law practice, Mr. Rothkoff and his wife, Erica, keep busy with their five children, twenty-year old identical twin girls, Liza and Julia, seventeen-year old fraternal twin boys, Evan and Gregory, and eight-year old Aitan.

Bryan Adler

Bryan Adler is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) through the National Elder Law Foundation; the only American Bar Association accredited certification in Elder Law. As a member of the Rothkoff Law Group, he dedicates his elder law practice to advising and counseling clients in the areas of elder law, life care planning, asset protection, veterans’ benefits, estate planning, guardianships and long-term care advocacy for both Pennsylvania and New Jersey residents.

 

Bryan received his bachelor’s degree in Health Policy and Administration from Penn State University and his Juris Doctor from Drexel University. Bryan is licensed to practice law in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is also a Veterans Administration accredited attorney.

 

An active member of the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association, Bryan regularly counsels other elder law and life care planning attorneys regarding practice development and marketing.

 

With the Rothkoff Law Group, Bryan, along with Jerry Rothkoff, manage a team of interdisciplinary professionals, including elder law attorneys, care coordinators, public benefits specialists, and other elder care law professionals.

 

Prior to joining the Rothkoff Law Group, Bryan began his legal career with an estate planning practice before transitioning to traditional elder law, and ultimately to Life Care Planning. With this perspective Bryan is uniquely experienced at counseling clients with on how best to effect such a transition.

Kathleen Magee

Kathleen Magee joined the Rothkoff Law Group as an Elder Care Coordinator in 2014. Rothkoff Law Group is a Life Care Planning Law Firm serving Southern and Central New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania. Kathleen has primarily served clients out of the firm’s Pennsylvania offices and is an integral component of the firm's continued growth in Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Rothkoff Law Group, Kathleen worked in various positions within long-term care communities, including discharge planning and activities.

Through her experience of working with and advocating for the residents and patients in long-term care settings, Kathleen developed vast knowledge of the types of services and community resources available for the aging population. Kathleen soon realized that her understanding of care management and advocacy mirrored the law firm’s primary goal of ensuring the client receives the best care possible. Kathleen’s experience, working in both long-term care and in care coordination, brings a unique perspective that enhances her ability to train and educate other Elder Care Coordinators, and assist law firms transitioning to Life Care Planning or enhancing their existing practice.

Kathleen graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In the spring of 2015, she received her Certified Elder Care Coordination Certificate through Stockton University Stockton Center on Successful Aging (SCOSA) to continue her education regarding the role of a care coordinator in a Life Care Planning Law Firm.

Jacinda Graham

Having devoted her entire career to elder care related field, Jacinda Graham brings an unparalleled depth of knowledge in operations, client services, and systems development. Initially working as a caregiver and in sales and marketing roles for long-term care communities, Jacinda joined the Rothkoff Law Group as its Client Services Director nearly 10 years ago.

 

In her role at the Rothkoff Law Group, Jacinda conducts prospective client intake calls, manages the client-services team, and assures all client matters move smoothly from beginning to end.

 

While Jacinda is experienced in all aspects of the Life Care Planning process, including client matter management, her primary focus is conducting initial triage calls. Jacinda developed and implemented a system designed to elicit necessary information from prospective clients, discuss how Life Care Planning will help, and fully prepare those clients for their initial attorney meeting.

 

Jacinda works with LCC client-firms to create and implement an efficient and streamlined LCP process. This includes training LCC client-firms to conduct initial intake calls and develop streamlined workflow; all tailored to the needs of the individual LCC client-firm.
